HockeyHero’s mission is simple. To help reduce the barrier of entry for people who want to play hockey.

Our Mission

We're losing 1.5 minor hockey players every hour—and have been for over a decade. A 2024 article cited the top reasons: equipment costs, access to quality coaching, and the price of ice.

As a hockey family with a AAA goalie in the GTHL, we feel the rising costs every season. And we understand why parents are frustrated and evaluate other options.

This decline affects everyone—fans, families, and those working in the sport. Even Bauer’s President, Ed Kinnaly, admits there's more talk than action. So here’s to taking even a small step in the right direction.

Hockey Hero brings together three key parts of every hockey family's journey.

1. Discounted Quality Gear

Kids grow fast, and hockey gear is expensive: $3–5K for players, $6–10K for goalies. Multiply that by growth spurts and years of playing, and it adds up! Latest gear reviews, shooting technique advice, or hot takes on goalie laces vs. bungees—you’ll find answers to questions, insights from parents, coaches, players, and more. It's help for hockey from the whole community.
